TREATMENT PROCEEDURES and DOSAGE:
For the treatment of superficial fungal or bacterial infections, or for nitrite and/or cyanide poisoning, use enough stock solution to produce a concentration of 3-5 ppm. Use lower dose range for superficial fungal infections. Partial water changes are recommended after 24 hours, followed by retreatment. Continue treatment for 3 to 5 days. Caution: It has been determined that Methlene Blue will inhibit nitrification, resulting in increased concentration of ammonia in the water. Do not use this drug in aquariums or systems with established bio-filters.
MAKING A STOCK SOLUTION:
To achieve the recommended treatment level, a stock solution should be made. Use 23.0 grams per 1000 mL (33.8 fl oz) of water to make a 2.303% solution. Use only deionized or distilled water. Store the stock solution in a glass or plastic bottle. This stock solution, when used at the rate of one (1) teaspoon per 10 gallons of water will produce a concentration of 3.0 ppm. To produce a 5.0 concentration, add five (5) teaspoons of stock solution to every three (3) gallons of water.
CAUTION:
Powerful dye. May cause skin sensitization. May discolor silicone sealants used in some aquariums.
Avoid skin contact. Avoid contact with clothing.
Avoid breathing the powder or dust.
Use in an area with minimal air movement to prevent blowing of the dust.
In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
In case of skin contact, wash with soap or a mild detergent.
