DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Sulfisoxazole is an antibacterial, exerting a bacteriostatic action against gram-negative and gram positive bacteria of fishes. It is useful for the control of Renibacterium (bacterial kidney disease), Aeromonas hydrophila (abdominal dropsy), and Flexibacter (bacterial gill disease, mouth "fungus", fin and tail rot). Although Sulfisoxazole may be used as a bath, it is recommended that it be incorporated into the fishes' food. As with any sulfa drug, Sulfisoxazole should not be used repeatedly because of its tendency to produce sulfonamide-resistant bacterial strains.

TREATMENT PROCEDURES and DOSAGE:
Bath: As a treatment for minor skin infections, use at a concentration of 96 mg/L. Partial water changes must be made after 24 hours and the treatment repeated. Continue treatment for 5 to 7 days. To achieve recommended therapeutic dosage, use one (1) teaspoon for each 16.6 gallons (0.096 mg/L). If improvement is not noted within 3 days, discontinue treatment. Note: overuse of this medication may result in secondary fungal infections. For accuracy and reproducibility of results, this drug should be measured by weight. However, because of its relative safety in aquariums, it can be measured out in teaspoons when treating small volumes of water.
Oral: For treatment of systemic (internal) infections Sulfisoxazole should be added to the food. To prepare food, estimate combined weight of fish to be treated. Weigh out quantity of food they will consume in 14 days. Add Sulfisoxazole (14 days x 100 to 200 mg per kg of body weight per day) Moisten with a small quantity of water, mix and allow to dry. Feed predetermined portion of food to the fish each day.

CAUTIONS:
Avoid skin contact. Avoid contact with clothing.
Avoid breathing the powder or dust.
Use in an area with minimal air movement to prevent blowing of the dust.
In case of eye contact, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes.
In case of skin contact, wash with soap or a mild detergent.
If swallowed, contact a physician or Poison Control Center.
