PURPOSES AND BENEFITS
The TeraRep Turtle Catcher is a safe and gentle turtle-capture system to use in ponds and larger aquariums to capture aquatic turtles. The Turtle Catcher eliminates the need for chasing a turtle and other aquatic animals around trying to capture them. When used in shallow water with a sufficient airspace in the Catcher, it can be used to isolate individual turtles. It also can be useful for catching fishes, such as goldfish and young to subadult koi. (See Fish Corral for three sizes for smaller to larger fish).
SPECIFICATIONS
The TeraRep Turtle Catcher is constructed of 1/8" (3 mm) thick clear sturdy acrylic plastic with all edges polished. All joints are chemically welded for strength and durability. Made in the U.S.A.
The Turtle Catcher is 10" long, 8" wide, and 8 1/2" high. A wide swinging door fits inside the approximately 8" wide by 8 1/2" opening. The Turtle Catcher has 10' of plastic line that can be used to close the full-sized door while the Catcher is in position in the water. The Turtle Catcher has an acrylic plastic handle on top, and comes with an extension tool to be able to close the door from above (see illustration below).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Warning. Do not use the Turtle Catcher fully submerged for catching a turtle without being present to lift the Catcher out of the water after the turtle is caught, so that the turtle can quickly breathe air.
Before use, be sure that the plastic line is firmly attached to the door. Rotate the door to its open position. Place the Turtle Catcher submerged in the aquarium or pond where it is expected to catch the turtle or other aquatic animal. Put food in the Catcher before or after putting it in the water, preferably positioning the food towards the rear to attract the turtle or other animal into the Catcher. Pull on the nylon line to close the door when the turtle or other animal goes inside the Catcher. Immediately bring the Catcher to the surface for the turtle to breathe.
When bringing the Catcher up out of the water, tip the Catcher to allow the water in part or whole to pour out, depending upon how the turtle is being handled. Have a container ready for moving the turtle, if the Turtle Catcher is not being used for this purpose. When moving turtles or fishes, use Kordon's Fish Protector water conditioner to reduce stress, and to resist infection by viruses and bacteria, such as for abrasions and open wounds.
STABILITY
The acrylic plastic in the Turtle Catcher is durable and the construction is sturdy.
COMPATIBILITIES
The Turtle Catcher is primarily designed in size and shape for aquatic turtles, but it is suitable for many kinds of aquatic animals, including fishes, and other mobile aquatic animals, such as shrimp and crabs.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use the Turtle Catcher unattended when capturing a turtle underwater, as is explained above under Directions For Use.
TOXICITY
The plastics used in the Turtle Catcher are nontoxic.

The acrylic plastic Extension Tool is provided for use in deeper aquariums to allow the user to operate the door without placing hands in the water. For an even greater reach, a plastic ruler or similar device can be attached to the Extension Tool with rubber bands or small binder clips. Use plastic line to close door remotely.
